How to ask for deletion

The quickest ways are in the app and on WhatsApp: both delete your account at once. Requests by email are handled by a person, so they take longer. Every route ends in the same deletion.

1. In the app

Sign in at app.47bh.org, open your profile and choose Delete my account. Confirm when asked. Your account and data are removed at once, as described below. Before you do, you can use Download my data to keep a copy.

2. On WhatsApp

From the same WhatsApp number you signed up with, send the single word DELETE to the 47 BH WhatsApp number, +91 81419 47100. Because the message comes from your own number, we know it is you. We ask you to confirm with a button, then delete your account at once and reply to say it is done.

3. By email

Write to hello@47bh.org with the subject line "Delete my data" and the WhatsApp number or email address on your account. A member of our team handles these requests by hand. We may ask you to confirm by sending us a message from your registered WhatsApp number, so that nobody else can delete your account.

What is deleted

• Your account, WhatsApp phone number and WhatsApp user ID.
• Your display name, state and city, and email address if you added one.
• The actions you committed to or completed, and your check-in answers.
• Your invitation links and the link between you and the people you invited.
• Your messages to the 47 BH WhatsApp number.

What may remain

• Anonymous totals. Counts such as how many people committed to an action are not linked to you once your account is gone, and they stay in the published totals.
• Legal records. A record we must keep to meet a legal obligation, kept only for as long as the law requires.
• Backups. Encrypted backups are overwritten on a rolling basis, so a deleted record can survive in a backup for a short time. We will not restore it, and it drops out when the backup is overwritten.

How long it takes

In the app and on WhatsApp, deletion happens at once and you get a message when it is done. Email requests are handled within 30 days, and usually much sooner. If you wrote by email, we reply to the address you wrote from.

If you only visited the website

The website has no accounts, so there is nothing for us to delete in your name. The actions you ticked on the What can I do? page are stored only in your browser: clear your site data to remove them. Analytics are anonymous and expire after 14 months at most. If you have emailed us and want that email deleted, write to hello@47bh.org.
