About these terms

These terms apply to the 47 BH website at 47bh.org and the 47 BH citizen app at app.47bh.org with its WhatsApp sign-in (together, "47 BH"). 47 BH is operated by Pandit Ventures Private Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India ("we", "us"). By using the website you accept these terms. By creating an account in the app you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use 47 BH.

What 47 BH is, and is not

• 47 BH is independent and non-partisan. It does not back a political party or candidate and it is not a government programme.
• The report card and the pillar pages cite published sources. We try to be accurate and we correct mistakes openly (see Methodology and corrections), but we do not guarantee that every figure is complete or current.
• The What can I do? page and the app suggest actions that citizens can take. They are general information. They are not legal, medical, financial or professional advice. Check official sources and take professional advice before you rely on them. The first edition of the actions is still being reviewed by subject experts.
• Joining 47 BH does not make you an employee, member, agent or volunteer of Pandit Ventures Private Limited, and there is no payment or reward for taking part.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over to create an account in the app. The website can be read by anyone. You must give true information, use a WhatsApp number that is yours, keep one account only, and keep your account secure. You are responsible for what happens through your account.

How we expect you to behave

You agree not to:

• break any law, or post anything unlawful, threatening, abusive, hateful or defamatory;
• harass or impersonate any person or organisation, or claim a connection with 47 BH that you do not have;
• use 47 BH to campaign for or against a political party or candidate, to spam, or to sell or advertise products or services;
• post personal information about anyone else without their permission;
• invite people who have not agreed to hear from you, or use invitation links to mislead;
• report actions as done when you have not done them, to climb a leaderboard or inflate totals;
• scrape the app, overload it, probe it for weaknesses, or interfere with how it works.

Your commitments and check-ins are self-reported. We do not verify them, and the totals we publish are labelled that way.

What you post and what we publish

If you send us content, such as a suggestion for a new action, a check-in answer or, once discussion features exist, a post, you keep ownership of it. You give Pandit Ventures Private Limited a free, non-exclusive licence to store, display and adapt it for running and improving 47 BH, and to publish it, in a form that does not identify you unless you agree, to show what works. We may review, edit, hide or remove content that breaks these terms or the law.

The 47 BH report card data is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence, as stated on the Methodology page. The rest of the website is copyright Pandit Ventures Private Limited. You are welcome to quote it briefly with credit and a link to the page.

WhatsApp messages

Sign-in uses WhatsApp, so WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy also apply to your use of WhatsApp. We will send you only the messages you need to sign in or have asked for, such as confirmations and reminders. You can stop reminders in the app or by replying STOP, and start them again by replying START.

Suspension and ending your account

You can delete your account at any time, in the app or by WhatsApp (see Delete my data). We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms or the law, or is used to harm others, and we will tell you why where we can.

What we do not promise

We provide 47 BH "as is". We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or secure from every attack. To the extent the law allows, Pandit Ventures Private Limited is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of 47 BH or your reliance on the information in it, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, which for a free service is nil. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any rights you have as a consumer under Indian law. Please write to us first at hello@47bh.org and give us a chance to put things right.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for app users, tell you in the app or on WhatsApp before a material change takes effect. If you keep using 47 BH after that, you accept the updated terms. Questions: hello@47bh.org.
