What is 47 BH?
47 BH is a non-partisan mission exploring what it will take for Bharat to become a developed nation by 2047: richer in per capita income and, more importantly, in character.
Why the name 47 BH
Since 2021, India has issued Bharat series number plates, marked BH. Unlike every other plate, a BH plate belongs to no single state: it is valid across the whole country. We borrowed its format to describe a journey that belongs to all of Bharat, to no region, community or party.
Registered in 2047
On a BH plate, the first two digits are the year of registration. Ours is the year India completes 100 years of independence.
Bharat, all of it
Every state, city and village. The mission is about the whole country reaching its destination together.
A hundred years
The centenary of independence: the milestone by which we want Bharat to be a developed nation.
Karma and Dharma
The values that drive the journey: accountability for every action, and duty towards family, society and all life.
A plate tells you where a vehicle is registered. This one tells you where Bharat is headed, and what should drive it there. Fuelled by Karma. Steered by Dharma.
The 47 BH vision for 2047
A developed Bharat that is richer in per capita income and, more importantly, in character: where people work hard and build wealth, yet live by Karma, accountable for every action, and by Dharma, doing their duty towards their family, friends, society and all life on this earth.
The eight pillars of a developed Bharat
The road to 2047 runs through eight pillars in three layers, broken down into 42 sub-pillars. Every conversation and explainer on the channel maps to one of them. Select a pillar to read what it covers and its sub-pillars.
Foundations
What makes people and the state capable.
Prosperity
Richer in per capita income.
Character
More importantly, richer in character.
How 47 BH looks at every issue
City and village
Every issue is looked at for both urban and rural Bharat, so the journey includes everyone.
Learn, avoid, protect
What should India learn from other countries, which of their mistakes should it avoid, and what of its own should it protect?
Who is behind 47 BH
I'm Hemang Pandit, a techie and founder building technology businesses in India. Building companies here has shown me both how far we have come and how much remains to be done.
47 BH is my attempt to ask, openly and without party lines, what it will take for Bharat to become a developed nation by its centenary, and to make sure we become richer in character, not only in income.
